“Mum…I’m home” By Kirsty Kell 2015©KellProductions

Jane feels herself still. Not moving and her eyes shut tight. She muster’s some courage to open one eye then the other. But nothing changes; darkness fills the space she’s in. Jane tries to listen, look and move around to find something, just something to let her know what’s going on.
The room Jane was dragged into was her own, she knows it well. Where the bed should be, where her side table is, where the dresser is. The room isn’t too big, so everything is in touching distance, but Jane can’t feel a thing. She remains close to floor, in crawling position so she doesn’t fall but her panic is overtaking her. Why can’t she feel where her dresser or bed is.
Even the floor feels different to her plump soft carpet; this feels cold and hard like stone. Jane started to contemplate that she might be dreaming. None of this is real, she fell asleep having drinking her afternoon tea in front of the telly.
“Wake up” Jane whispers to herself.

“Wake up now.” Jane says louder.
She is shocked to hear the echo of her voice. Seems so real. But it gives her a better idea of her surroundings; the echo was deep and far. She’s not in her bedroom, she’s somewhere different, somewhere that scares her.
“Just wake up! Wake up!!!” Yells Jane echoing through this empty space.
All Jane can hear is her voice, begging in the distance. But something else is there, she can faintly hear another’s voice.
“Mum!!Open the door please?! You’re scaring me”
“Shannon?”
Suddenly Jane hears a loud shriek and pushing past her that prompts her to stand up in fear.. She gets head rush standing up so quickly and everything starts to feel a bit fuzzy.
Her eyes now adjusted a little, Jane looks around her. It is her room, everything is where it is. The blinds are shut with little light creeping in but it’s her room. Jane tries to make sense of it all, hearing Shannon still banging on the door outside. Everything seemed normal.

But then, sobbing is heard. Jane is terrified to look around. It’s not over yet.
She doesn’t want to continue with this horror-some event. She doesn’t want to feel nothing but fear in her heart but deep down she knows the only way to make it stop it to look around and find out what’s going on.
Jane turns round with her eyes tight shut in the direction of the noise, then slowly opens them when she feels comfortable. She sees a young girl curled up crying in the corner.
“Hello?” Jane extends out “Who are you?”
Jane moves closer to the girl, until she starts to look familiar.
“Shannon?”
Jane’s confusion grows as she can still hear grown Shannon banging on the door downstairs.
“It can’t be?”
Jane moves closer to the girl with caution, remembering what happened last time. She is close to the girl and nothing happens but the girl continuing to cry.
“You’re not Shannon”
The cry ignores Jane’s and continues with her sobbing.
“What do you want?” Jane says “WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!” Jane yells at the being.
The girl suddenly stops crying and lifts her head. Jane takes a step back. Slowly turning her head, making a crack of every bone used, the girl finally faces Jane. \Jane is shocked and gasps in terror to see ‘Shannon’ with no eyes and no nose, just a creepy large smile.
“I want you, Mummy” says the being in a deformed Shannon voice.
Jane screams and runs for the door swinging it open. As she tries to go through it, a force pushes her back into the room throwing her in the middle of the floor.
Jane is stunned, she can’t move. She hears the girl slowly standing up with every bone cracking in unison. The girl slowly moves towards Jane, and past her. Jane is relieved a bit, maybe she’s leaving? Maybe I’ll be okay. The girl gets to the door and turns around to face Jane with her facelessness and large smile. The girl slowly closes the door, shutting out any light.
Jane is once again in the dark with little light shinning through the blinds. The girl falls to the ground. Jane is confused, and hoping that it has stopped, but with little hope that Jane had, it disappeared instantly. The girl starts to slowly crawl towards Jane with her crack of a bone in a movement. Jane is still, she can’t move or scream at the horror she is seeing. The girl continues to move slowly towards Jane, with cracking bones and nothing but a large smile for Jane to see.
Suddenly stopping halfway to Jane, something changes.

The girl stops, and laughs before launching herself at Jane, crawling fast towards her. Jane screams in fear and terror, trying to defend herself. Her eyes are shut and she screaming, pushing this thing of her. Everything else is unfocused to Jane, switched off. Jane feels a force overpowering her and pushing her down. She screams more and louder, but a voice overbears her.
“MUM! MUM!”
Jane shoots her eyes open, it’s Shannon. Real Shannon standing over her.
“What’s going on? I was calling for ages. I heard you screaming” asks Shannon
“Where is she?” cries out Jane
“The girl! The girl! She attacked me” Jane says sobbing through her words.
Jane pulls tight in Shannon’s arms crying hard. Shannon looks on at shock and doesn’t understand. Something prompts her to look around, specifically in the corner where the girl was. Shannon shocked and confused she turns to her mum

“Mum, who wrote that?”

“What?” asks Jane turning around
In the corner of the wall, in blood it reads “Mum…I’m home.”

Aslyum’s Corner of Darkness

So this is a snippet from my book that I am currently 1/5 of the way through writing (WHAT! A fifth, I know insane) and thought it may be a good idea to show a somewhat teaser. There is so much to choose from, and so many amazing horror filled scene (Not that I’m big headed or anything). But I chose this one because it’s a perfect taster to show what is in the book, and work’s well standing on it’s on. Doesn’t spoil anything, don’t need any previous background, just a creepy snippet. Another reason I choose this part is because I’m actually not sure how creepy or good it really so it’s a part that’s expendable BUT I would like to have. Okay, enough of intro’s here is the money maker. Once again, feel free to lemme know what you think in the comments or if you’re too shy a like so at least I know it’s likeable.

Thanks all’

CHAPTER 6 – THE CORNER OF DARKNESS

After a nap, since she doesn’t have anything else to do in a place like this, Belle is gently woken by a familiar voice.

“Belle? Belle. Hey, you need to wake up” says the gentle voice
“Alex? What’s going on” asks Belle
“It’s time silly”
“Time for what?”
“Time for your examination”

A confused Belle looks at Alex and see’s he has no eyes and a wide grin on his face. She tries to jolt up but can’t, something’s restricting her. She looks down but the bed sheets are covering her body so she doesn’t know what.

“Alex, what’s goin- what’s happening?”
“Time for you examination silly, it’s going to be all better soon”
“No”

Belle tries to struggle but cant. 2 orderlies come into the room, also with no eyes and the same grin. They start to move the bed that now has wheels. As they turn the bed and lead her through the bedroom door Belle tries to plead but no one is listening, they all just continue to have a wide grin on their faces. As she goes through her bedroom, she’s transported to the examination room that is similar to a surgery theatre. Doctor Effie is there with no eyes and a wide grin, cheerfully sharpening tools, humming to himself. The orderlies stop the bed bedside the table of operation tools that are glistering under the lights. Effie notices Belle.

“How are we today Belle?” says an overly cheery Doctor Effie. “I hope you doing very well indeed”
“Please, what’s going on” sobs Belle.
“Uh-Oh, did someone not tell you about your examination?” says Doctor Effie very cartoon like turning to Alex.
“Oh but I did! Someone is being a silly billy again”
Doctor Effie and Alex laugh together, and then Effie pops up beside Belle by the tools.
“My pretty blue Belle, today is your examination and we get to have some fun.”
“What does that mean?” says a worried Belle
“We get to find what you’re made of” Says Alex
Belle has a confused look on her face “What?”
“Uh-Oh! Someone’s spoiling it!” Says Doctor Effie
“Sorry!” says Alex once again cartoon like.
“Let me show you Belle.”

Doctor Effie flips of the bed sheet to reveal Belle’s arms and legs have been strapped down. Her feet have been removed from the ankle with dried blood covering the bottom, and her hands removed from the wrists. Her torso has been carved into, and chunks of body missing, organs and insides are visibly on display. Belle lets out a piercing cry as she looks at her disfigured body.

“As you can see Belle, we kind of already started without you.”
“But-But-But-“ Belle tries to find some breathe and speech
“Now the last thing” Says Alex
“What?!” shouts Belle
“Uh-oh! Some is ruining it again” says Effie. “Well Belle, I- haha Well Belle?!” Doctor Effie and Alex laugh again. “We have examined everything but one thing.”
“No please!” cries Belle
“Can you guess what it is?”
“Oh I can!” shouts Alex
“No no no, I asked Belle. Can you guess?” says a cheery Effie. He goes close to Belle’s ear as she continues to cry and something changes. All the grins turn to frowns and Effie is no longer overly cheery, he’s aggressive and angry.
“It’s your heart Belle, we need to examine your heart. But I figured you don’t need it” whispers Effie. “So why not TAKE IT OUT!” he shouts as he raises a sharp instrument going to strike her heart.

As Doctor Effie’s hand comes down to strike Belle, everything goes in slow motion as she lets out a scream. She can hears Alex in the background saying “Belle” over and over.

“Belle!” says Alex
“What?!” Belle says jolting up
“You fell asleep, we have group therapy in like 4 minutes” says Alex
“What?” Belle looks at her clock and realises she was dreaming, it was only a nightmare and has been asleep for 5 minutes. “Oh shit, right. Sorry, I’ll get up now”
“Are you okay?” asks Alex
Belle stares at his eyes and normal mouth, that of which she is used to. “Yeah I’m fine. Just a..a bad nap”
“You sure? You look pale”
“Yep, I am completely fine.”

The Dissembler

So, here is a snippet from a movie script I’m working on. It’s is super early days and a very rough copy,  but as I am aiming to maybe put up one story a day, I thought this might be a nice teaser read. Enjoy, and once again, feel free to leave a comment letting me know what you think xox

The Dissembler by Kirsty Kell        2014©KellProductions

In a basement, a news report can be heard muffled in the back ground. The camera pans round to a wall with news paper clippings on it dating from 1999 to the last being 2004. They are reports of several missing girls of different ages, connecting them is red tape from one clipping to another.

Now a sharpening sound can be heard more clearly as well as the news report. Camera pans round to a man with his back facing the camera, he is at a desk. Shot of the desk shows different torture instruments like knives, small rusty saws, screwdrivers and some home-made tools. The man is sharpening a butter knife and attaching things to it. The camera turns to the dog happily lying to his right, then muffled screams and crying can be heard as well as the full news report:

Reporter #1: 15 year old, Katy Turner has disappeared from home yesterday evening. Her mother said she was last seen in her room doing homework at 7pm, and when she checked again at 9pm, she was gone. Police have not yet commented on the case with detail.

(The man stops and listens to the news report)

Neighbour: Well, Katy was always a good girl. She’d never just disappear out if thin air. Someone must have taken her.
Reporter: Who would have taken her? Did she have any enemies? People who wanted to hurt her?

Neighbour: No, she was a confident, nice natured girl. It has to be that man, y’know. Who’s been kidnapping all those girls?
Reporter #2: 5 years ago, young girls aged between 8-14 (camera pans over news clippings on wall again) have been reported missing. None have any connection to each other except their deaths. All of the victims had been tortured, beating and disassembled beyond recognition in horrific ways. The public began calling the killer the ‘Dissembler’.

(Camera pans round to where the muffled screams are coming from to see a girl tied to an old rusty dentist chair. Strapped down and crying) the last girl to be adducted was Stacy Harris, 12 years old last summer, and her remains where found the following week.
Reporter #1: Police have not yet found any cause to believe this disappearance is in relation to the ‘Dissembler’. Police ensure Katy Turner will be found in…
Man turns news report off and stands up. His faced shadowed. He slowly walks to the girl with heavy footsteps, the girl trying to scream and frantic. He gets really close to her face
Man: You don’t believe that do you Katy? They’ll find you? You go home? Be safe? *laughs* No, of course you don’t. Look at all my girls, none of them got away. And neither will you.
The man gets really close to Katy, like going in for a kiss, he smells her hair and backs off.
Man: Soon. Soon, Katy.
The man walks towards the TV and puts on a radio channel with an upbeat tune he begins to whistle it as he walks to the stairs. He gets to the bottom of the staircase and stops, looks back at the dog and calls on it.
Man: Champ. *whistles* he boy.
Dog goes to him.
Man: Now, you be a good girl Katy and don’t go anywhere.
He begins to laugh at this while walking up the stairs. When he gets to the top still laughing the camera’s on Katy and begins to slowly zoom in on her terrified face.

The door slams shut

Blackout.

“Mum…I’m home”

Just a quick introduction into my very first short horror story! This is just a taster from a full piece I am working on. Hope you like, feel free to leave a comment or a question.

“Mum…I’m home” By Kirsty Kell 2014©KellProductions

Jane is sitting in the kitchen enjoying a nice cup of coffee and a chocolate biscuit, the only time of the day where she can finally relax. It’s that point after the tidying and before the kids get back from school.

Everyday she has her routine; Breakfast, school run, drops her daughter at work, tidying and cleaning and then her biscuit and coffee.

Getting to her comfortable zone that she’s used to she hears a noise upstairs. It’s is unusual…no one else is in at this time.

Jane slowly goes to the bottom of the stairs to investigate, listening in upstairs to hears what the sound might be. She hears a loud and powerful drop and skittering across the floor. Something or someone is upstairs.

“Hello?” Shouts up Jane, and something moves quick and heavy to her daughters room. Jane is frozen and stunned.

“What do I do?” She can’t think of anything else but to shout up once again.  She gives out a somewhat questionable yell that even she thinks is pathetic, so what would a robber think? Thinking to herself she needs to seem more confident, she gains courage and authority and lets out a loud and strong “Who’s there?”

No answer and no noise is heard.

“I’m phoning the police!” she yells. Walking over to the phone in a hurry with her eyes focused on the stairs so she’s sure to know if someone is coming down, she turns to dial in the number. A loud thud, as something heavy has dropped down hard on the floor upstairs, shakes though out the house making Jane drop the phone.

“Mum?!” yells a familiar voice.

“Shannon?”

She hears whimpering and sobbing coming from the room. Jane panics up the stairs to her daughters room swinging the door open to see her lifeless daughter lying on the floor with her face lying flat on the ground.

Her whimpering has stopped, she is motionless. Jane goes into maternal mode and rushes to her body, trying to see her face but it’s covered by her long black her.

Her body is ice cold, and blood stains are over her night gown.

Jane is confused, scared and still. She doesn’t know what to do.

Suddenly a knock at the door breaks her shock, finally someone to help she thinks to herself. The person knocks loudly on the door then waits.

Jane tries to move Shannon’s body closer to the door as she can’t bear to leave her daughter. But Shannon’s body wont budge. The person becomes impatient and bangs loudly on the door, Jane knows she has to get there attention before they leave.

She runs out to the hallway and to the top of the stairs, “Help!” She shouts down, “Help, its my daughter”.

“Mum?” a voice peeps through the letterbox.

“Shannon?” Jane asks confusingly.

“Yeah, it’s me. I forgot my keys. I tried to phone but the phone is off the hook, let me in”.

Jane’s blood runs cold and she stares confusingly at the door.

“No, I just…”

“Mum let me in” shouts Shannon.

“You were in your room, I saw…”

Jane hears a noise, and her instincts tell her to turn around.

She slowly turns to face her daughters bedroom door, and standing in the frame is ‘Shannon’s’ body, lifeless and cold as it was before with the long black head falling over her face.. Jane is stunned and can’t move as she looks at the copy of her daughter.

Blood what was once stained is now fresh dripping slowly down her dress.

“You’re not my Shannon” Jane stutters.

The girl tilts her head sideways letting out a crack as if bones had snapped.

“Mum…I’m home” the girl says in a distorted voice.Jane turns to run but something grabs her foot.

She falls, waiting…

waiting for something

to grab her again,

waiting for something to drag her,

waiting for anything…

Still waiting for what seemed like forever, Jane turns to her daughters door to see nothing. She slowly sits up, thinking she imagined it all. Feeling her heartbeat regulate she feels relief, everything fine.

Shannon still knocking on the door, Jane is calm. She turns to go downstairs and hears something behind her, before she can turn she hears a loud distorted voice shouting “Mummy!” then is grabbed from behind and dragged into her room by the mysterious girl. The door slamming shut behind her with the echo “Mummy” slipping out one last time.
